On Lists and Motivation.

I am a list maker. I love making a list of things to-do or want-to-do, then checking each one off. Yes, I am one of those girls. Say whatever you want about me; it makes me feel accomplished. Like I am doing something.

I’ve been so busy with two new volunteer projects and working full-time that I haven’t had time to even think about things I want to accomplish, let alone write it out on a list. Score one for me if I get a shower in today. I am just living day by day…not looking forward or toward anything…just doing what is absolutely necessary, nothing more.

This has been going on since around Thanksgiving of 2015.

Okay, that’s not entirely true. It’s not so much of not having time to think about it, because I have thought about it (eye-roll), it’s just that I am uninspired, unmotivated, and Netflix is calling my name.

Speaking of unmotivated, check out my new favorite blogger: Unmotivated. That word perfectly sums up how I am feeling. And it’s a new year…the time when everyone is motivated to do great things except me, and my friend Liz, and Unmotivated over here.

So, I buckled down and made a list. It took me, like 7 days.

Paint Parker’s room. Because pink and lavender walls. The room was once her sister’s and I made the unfortunate mistake of letting an 8-year-old choose the wall colors. (Sorry, Alex.) A makeover is long over due. I roped the hubby into helping me, too. It’s on the calendar for this weekend. Unless my Netflix time gets in the way.

Get my eyes checked. Because I sit in front of a computer screen all.day.long. I hate, hate, hate to admit that I am having trouble focusing my eyes. Because if hubby can’t read anything without his glasses and I can’t focus my eyes, we will be like an old couple who can’t read a thing! Cue grumpy old couple voices: “What’s this say on the computer ma?” “I don’t know pa. I can’t read that far” “Why do they may the type so small, dang nab it!”

Get a mammogram. Because, you know why. That ranks at the top of my list like a root canal.

Repaint the accent wall in my living room. I painted it last month but it’s not dark enough. Let’s be honest…I probably won’t do this one.

I would put lose weight on my list but I probably won’t do that either.

Find a new Bible study. I would like to find one about Jesus’ parables. Any suggestions?

Post more than once a week. Once upon a time, during my sabbatical, I posted 2-3 times a week. But with a full-time job, writing is on the back burner. That makes me sad.

“Do more of what makes you happy.” Unknown

Create more. I am sure this is one the girls would agree with. We need more craft days in our future. Again…do what makes us happy.

Whew! That is the most motivated I have been in two months! I need to take a break. That was exhausting.

Meanwhile, this girl (the one with the ball) is turning 14 next week. Whaaattt?
