lesson from a 3 year old

Last night my 3 year old daughter, Parker asked me to read her a book before bed. She picked out the book: “The First Easter”. (It’s a simplified version of Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection for kids.) As I started to read she listened intently. Then I got the part where Jesus was nailed to the cross. Parker had a very worried look on her face.

“Mommy, what is that on Jesus’ feet?” she finally asked.

“It’s blood where they nailed Jesus to the cross.” I answered.

“Oh,” she said. I could tell she was thinking about what I jsut told her. Then reaching down and touching her feet she said, “That hurts me Mommy. That wasn’t nice.”  In the simplest terms that only a child can say…seeing Jesus on the cross hurts her.
