Everyone remembers where they were that day eight years ago. What they were doing. How the days events unfolded for them. No need to repeat them here. It’s a day we all will never forget. The day our country changed forever.
That day we had an appointment to get un ultrasound. Our first baby. We were going to see that she was developing well.
Like everyone else in this country, we were glued to the radio/tv that day. In utter shock of what was happening. War. Terrorism. Fear. Death. It was hard to escape. But for 40 minutes that day we did just that and looked at our soon-to-be-born baby for the first time. We saw her moving around inside me. We saw here tiny toes. We even saw her pull her toes up to her mouth and “suck” on them! Amazing. Beautiful. Hope. LIFE. I will never forget that day. Ever.
From fear and tragedy was born hope and life.
I guess that is the point. Life goes on. Life continues despite tragedy. We all grow and move forward. We don’t just survive but we thrive!
I would like to share one of my favorite quotes from that day. It is a quote I put in Alex’s baby book from that days events:
“Great tragedy has come to us, and we are meeting it with the best that is in our country with courage and concern for others. Because this is America. This is who we are.” -President George W. Bush
